Recipes: Chicken Thighs with Mustard Garlic Sauce (Serves: 6)

This is a great recipe that is made in less than 30 minutes. Serve it with crusty bread to sop up all the garlicky juices. Yum.

The Recipe

Ingredients

  • 6 chicken thighs
  • 75g all purpose flour
  • 2 teaspoons (10ml) Massel stock powder chicken style
  • 2 tablespoons (40ml) butter
  • 2 tablespoons (40ml)olive oil
  • 2 cloves garlic, crushed
  • 1 medium onions, sliced
  • 125ml (½ cup) dry white wine
  • 180ml (¾ cup) hot water
  • 60ml (¼ cup) Dijon mustard
  • 2 Massel 7’s Chicken Style stock cubes
  • 1 teaspoon (5ml) thyme
  • Fresh basil leaves for decoration
  • More Massel stock powder chicken style to taste, if needed

Method

 

  1. Mix flour and Massel stock powder seasoning together in a shallow bowl.
  2. Dredge chicken thighs in flour.
  3. Heat up a sauce pan over medium-high heat.
  4. Melt butter and oil together.
  5. Placed floured chicken in oil to brown.
  6. Turn when side is browned and turn down heat to medium-low.
  7. Place onions and garlic in pan.
  8. Mix wine, water, Dijon mustard and Massel’s 7s together and then pour into pan. Make sure the stock cubes are disolved.
  9. Sprinkle thyme over the top.
  10. Cover and let simmer for about 15-20 minutes.
  11. When chicken is cooked through, you are done.
  12. The sauce will thicken because of the flour. You can also blend the juices and the garlic together to make it thicker to pour over the chicken.
  13. Serve immediately.  Decorate with basil leaves.

 

Handy Tip

Gluten-free option: Substitute all purpose flour with your favorite gluten-free flour
