Massel's French Onion Dip

Recipes: French Onion Dip (Serves: 2-4)

People just love dips, but feel guilty because they are usually laden with fat. This dip is all pleasure without the guilt. Dip chips or veggies in it or use it instead of mayo on a sandwich.

The Recipe

Ingredients

  • 1 large onion, chopped
  • 1 tablespoon (20ml) olive oil
  • 1 teaspoon (5ml) thyme
  • 1 teaspoon (5ml) Massel Vegetable stock powder
  • 250ml (1 cup) of low-fat sour cream or Greek style yoghurt

Method

  1. Place onion in medium-low sauce pan with olive oil, thyme and Massel stock powder.
  2. Cover until onions are tender.
  3. Uncover and turn up heat until you get a nice caramel colour. Turn off heat and put in bowl.
  4. Add sour cream or yoghurt. Stir and let it sit in fridge for about an hour and you have a fabulous dip.

Handy Tip

For a vegan version: Replace yoghurt with vegan sour cream with 1 teaspoon (5ml) lemon juice.
